Our Focus Areas

School Fees Project

At Bulamu, we believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ can change whole communities especially when we take the practical gospel to them. Communities like Nakyere where there’s widespread plagues of abject poverty, teenage pregnancies, drunkenness, polygamy and witchcraft need a long term intervention plan if transformation is going to happen there.
One of the ways to bring about lasting long term change is by educating the children of this community as they will in turn be the answer to their community’s questions in the long run.
Join us as we educate a generation. Nelson Mandela said that “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.”
Sponsor a child today at UGX 50.000 or UG 150.000 or USD $35 a month.

School Uniform Project

So many children in the villages that BCS is involved in are attaining some sort of low cost/low quality education. That way many families cannot afford uniforms for their children. If they do buy one, they are not able to provide a larger size uniform once the child has outgrown it. This can create a stigma for the child and further affects them psychologically. BCS has intervened in a number of cases where the family couldn’t afford a child’s uniform and this has changed the whole outlook of the child but has also helped to foster a conducive learning environment for the children.
You can provide a school uniform for a child by giving a one off gift of 75.000 or $20.

Reading Lamps Project

The villages where most of the children live that we’ve intervened with, have no power supply. For those that do, very few families can afford to pay for the power supply service. Families therefore resort to using kerosene lamps which emit smoke that is unsafe for human health. One of the villages we are involved with-Nakyere village, is a very remote area where access to light especially for the children to be able to do their homework becomes hard, so, we thought that providing reading lamps would help provide clean. This has also boosted the children’s performance in schools because they can now be able to revise and do their homework even after the sun goes down.
God has connected us with a supplier who sells clean easy to use solar lamps at a subsidized price and we have already supplied solar lamps to 30 families. Buy a family one or two solar lamps by giving 40.000 or $10 for one.

Food Supplies Project

BCS Food project aims at providing necessary food supplies to the families of the villages we are doing our work. This is done through providing good seeds to assist in the planting of food which is useful for both commercial and subsistence purposes. We also occasionally donate food items to the communities. You can contribute to the provision of good seeds or food supplies to a family by giving a one off gift or monthly donation of UGX 50.000 or $14.

School Shoes Project

BCS desires to support the children to attend school with shoes and curb or reduce the effects of walking bare footed for long distances. Some of these effects are jiggers, injuries and exposure to infections. All these will slow down or even stop the child from going to school let alone being in the right frame of mind to receive knowledge. For many of us a pair of shoes is guaranteed, but for the children we interface with, this is a luxury. Help a child wear shoes to school by giving only 25.000 or $7 today.

School Lunch Project

As we began to intervene with school fees for the children through BCS. We discovered that the lack of school fees wasn’t the only cause of children being unable to get a good education. Many of these kids don’t have lunch while at school. Since the schools must keep the fees low, in a quest to break even, they require that students pay school fees and school lunch separately. It’s therefore not uncommon to find kids in these rural schools with no lunch but still expected to compete academically with kids in better conditions at the national exams.
Once the kids have paid for school lunch, they are entitled to a cup of porridge. Since a good number cannot afford to pay for lunch, they go without it. You can start making a difference in the life of a child today by guaranteeing them a cup of porridge for their lunch at UGX 180.000 or $50 for a whole year.

Mentorship

BCS does not only intervene in practical aspects of school tuition and meals but also seeks to see children, families and communities growing both spiritually and in life skills. This gives opportunity to the sponsored children and their families to connect with someone in a personal way that is beyond personal needs. We believe that the whole person spirit, soul and body should prosper and Bulamu mentors interact with these children, families to ensure this.

Adopt A School

Many of the schools where the Bulamu kids are attending are themselves struggling to provide good services because their facilities do not even meet the bare minimum standards. The teachers are not motivated, have no materials and are paid a very meagre wage.
Our vision at BCS is to be a channel for resources that cause the love of Jesus to reach the least of these. You and us together can contribute to more wholesome school environments by;
• Refurbishing a classroom block
• Building a classroom block
• Sponsoring a “Train&Bless” workshop for teachers where we bring good educationalists to equip the teachers with better skills and mind sets to do their job better as well as bless them with a gift hamper of groceries.
• Donating maize flour to a school so that for a period every child is entitled to a cup of porridge
If interested in participating in this, please contact our BCS team via email.
